Dotti Potts

I just brought back an order from Barrie. We have a great selection of platters in all different shape and sizes, appetizer sets, wine cups and bowls. I think we might be the only shop in Toronto carrying Sandra's work now.
We also have an assortment of her colourful new pendants at $19.95. A perfect gift for anyone, young or old .

Blown Glass by Daniel Vargas

We have just received a shipment of hand-blown glass by creative artist Daniel Vargas. With over four decades of experience in blowing glass his work is quite stunning. Danny established this unique art form in British Columbia in 1976 and we carry vases in two sizes plus oil lamps.

Pottery by Paul Stewart

We have just received a new glaze by Paul Stewart. It combines the blues and browns with a bit of texture. We have mugs, teaset, platters, bakers and small bowls, all reasonably priced.
Paul has been a professional potter for close to 20 years and we have had him in the store for almost 2 years. His "superpots" @ $6.95 always sell out quickly.

Carole and John Bandurchin

We have just picked up our summer order from Carole and John. I feel the new glazes will be well received by many of our customers as they are completely different and fresh. The serving pieces are spectacular! (see platter above) We have been selling items right off the floor, before I can even get them displayed. Looking for a lovely wedding gift at a reasonable price...

Summer Time!

It's time to visit friends and family at their cottages and we have the perfect gift to take. The "canoe-on-the-lake" dip set is our most popular item at this time of year at $64.95 each. If that's more than you want to spend you can just purchase the "canoe" pate for $29.95 or a "row boat" pate for $25.95. They come in four different colour & blue, yellow & blue, burgandy & gold and the blue and green you see here. We will box and gift wrap it for you...with our compliments.

Village Day Sale Success!

Again, our Village Day Sale was a success. We were busy from 8:30 am till closing at 5:30 pm. As usual, a few dedicated customers came early (7:30 am) to select items as Bill and I were setting up. We have been doing this for over 30 years now and I feel our customers really appreciate the bargains we offer just once a year. The weather, although cool in the morning, warmed up and got quite hot by the end of the day. We are always keeping our fingers crossed on this, since it's totally out of our control.
Congrats to Rick O'Connor, the Yonge Lawrence Village BIA Co-Ordinater, who oversees all the events that take place on this day. You can always go to to get info on next year's Village Day which will fall on Saturday, June 12, 2010.
Always great to see a lot of old customers come in and take advantage of the sale plus a lot of new people discovering us for the first time. Thanks to everyone for making our sale a success.

Holiday Weekend

We went to Montreal this weekend to pick up two orders. Both Eric Ciup and Helga Mader have been doing pottery for us for many years...close to twenty for Eric. The new persimmon glaze (one of 4 done by Eric) always sells out quickly. Helga does two glazes for us and the bowl below is an example of her "Oka". The orders are unpacked and on display now, ready for you to see and enjoy.
Last week we received an order from Barbara Howe and there was an excellant selection of her "copper red" glaze. For anyone keeping track of this glaze, it has proved to be very hard for Barbara to get consistantly. Although we are very pleased to have it in the store right now there are no guarantees that we will get more in the future. So, if this is one of your favourites, don't hesitate. Come on in and have a look!

Last Cottage Life Show

Bill and I have decided to give up the Cottage Life Shows. We have been doing them for eight years now. The setting up and working of the shows has just become too physically demanding.

It's time for us to say good-bye to the wonderful group of people who manage both shows so well. We could not have asked for a better relationship. They not only saw to any problems immediately but were able to bring in both a great and knowledgable crowd. We will miss the staff, wish them well and hope that all the customers we met through the shows will come to the shop when they are in town.

Birthday card by Little Sea Shells

Cards by Little Sea Shells

We have just received a lovely selection of cards by Sadaf Kiani of Little Sea Shells. I love the graphics and the fact that they are blank on the inside for you to write your own personal message. Made in Toronto with special details that are very pleasing to the eye.

Spring c

It's that time of year again. Please note that the Trading Post has moved to Building 3A. We are booth # 15. This will be our last Cottage Life Show. Bill and I are just getting a little too long in the tooth for the hours of set-up and up to the 10 hour days. We've had a good run and met many new customers. Hopefully, with the internet, they will be able to continue to do business with us even though they are many miles away from Toronto.

New Designs from All Fired Up

All Fired Up has redesigned two of our favorite clocks and light switches. The Tall Moose Standing is now The Bull Moose and Herbs is now Garden Herbs. It's always good to change things up every now and then and we think both these will do very well in the store.
